Blind Rage
Blind Rage starts the Under the Breaking Sky series with a strange crack appearing in the sky and triggering a terrifying change in people exposed to it. Victims become blind, violent, and almost impossible to reason with, leaving the survivors trying to understand what is happening while society starts collapsing around them.
The story moves quickly and does a good job of making the infected feel different from the usual zombie threat. There is a lot of tension in not knowing exactly what the crack is or why some people seem to be affected differently, and that mystery gives the book more to work with than just nonstop survival.
The Goods
- Interesting twist on the infected genre
- Fast pacing
- Strong sense of danger
- The crack adds a good mystery
- Easy to get pulled into
The Bads
- Some characters are lightly developed
- A few reactions feel unrealistic
- Not many answers yet
- The action can get repetitive
- The setup feels stronger than some of the character work
My Recommendation
This is a good starting point for readers who like post-apocalyptic fiction, infected stories, and mysteries that slowly reveal what is happening. The blind, rage-filled infected give the book a different feel from standard zombie fiction, and the mystery around the crack keeps things interesting beyond the basic survival plot. If you enjoy fast-paced apocalypse stories with a creepy central idea and enough unanswered questions to keep you moving into the next book, Blind Rage is a solid start to the series.
