Blind Fear
Blind Fear is the third book in the Under the Breaking Sky series, where the strange crack in the sky continues turning ordinary people into blind, rage-filled monsters. Mark and John find themselves trapped inside a government facility, Tommy is dealing with his aunt and the ghost of his dead father, and Gina is still trying to find somewhere safe in a world that is falling apart.
The book keeps the same fast post-apocalyptic feel as the earlier entries, but it also leans more into fear, trauma, and the things the characters are carrying with them from before the collapse. There is still a lot of danger and violence, but the personal side of the story matters more here, which gives the book a little more emotional weight.
The Goods
- Strong post-apocalyptic tension
- The blind infected are still creepy
- Good mix of action and personal trauma
- Multiple storylines keep things moving
- The series mystery stays interesting
The Bads
- Some storylines are stronger than others
- A few characters still feel lightly developed
- The constant danger can get repetitive
- Not many answers about the crack yet
- Works best if you remember the earlier books
My Recommendation
This is a strong continuation for readers already following the Under the Breaking Sky series and enjoying the mix of horror, survival, and mystery. Blind Fear spends more time on the characters’ personal fears while still keeping the larger disaster moving in the background, so it feels a little more emotional than a straightforward monster story. If you like post-apocalyptic fiction with strange infected, multiple viewpoints, and an ongoing mystery that keeps getting bigger, this one fits the series very well.
