Where to start: The If I Stay series ended up being more emotional than I expected, especially because the two books look at Mia and Adam from such different places in their lives. The first book is about grief, family, and whether Mia even wants to keep going, while Where She Went shows what happens when surviving doesn’t magically fix everything. I got way more attached to these characters than I planned to, and I liked that their relationship stayed messy instead of being wrapped up too neatly. Some of the drama gets heavy, but the music, grief, love, and second-chance side of the story all worked really well together for me.
