If I Stay Collection
The If I Stay Collection brings together If I Stay and Where She Went, following Mia and Adam through two very different stages of their relationship. The first book deals with Mia after a devastating accident leaves her caught between life and death, while the second picks up years later and shows how everything that happened changed both of them.
I liked that the second book didn’t just repeat the emotional setup of the first one. Seeing the story from Adam’s side gave the relationship more depth, and I got more attached to these characters than I expected. Some of the drama can get a little heavy, but the grief, music, love, and second-chance side of the story all come together really well across the two books.
The Goods
- Strong emotional connection between the two books
- Mia and Adam both get real character growth
- The music side adds a lot to the story
- Good mix of grief and romance
- The second book gives the first one more weight
The Bads
- The emotional drama can get heavy
- Some parts are a little predictable
- The pacing slows in places
- A few relationship choices are frustrating
- Definitely more character-driven than plot-heavy
My Recommendation
This is a good fit if you like emotional YA, second-chance romance, and stories about grief, love, and figuring out what comes after something completely changes your life. I appreciated that Mia and Adam’s story wasn’t wrapped up neatly after the first book, because Where She Went shows how complicated healing can actually be. If you like romance with a lot of emotional weight and characters who have to grow separately before they can really understand each other, this collection works really well as a complete story.
