Hollow Hellion
Hollow Hellion follows a woman who runs away to the Oddity Carnival hoping to escape one kind of nightmare and pretty much walks straight into another. Hellion, the ringleader of The Hollows, becomes obsessed with her almost immediately, and the story quickly turns into a very dark mix of horror, BDSM, obsession, pain, and attraction.
I knew pretty quickly this wasn’t going to be a normal romance. What worked for me was how completely the book commits to being dark and twisted instead of trying to soften anything. Hellion and the main character are both damaged in ways that make their connection feel intense and completely unhealthy, but that’s also the point. It’s graphic, chaotic, and definitely not subtle, but if you’re in the mood for something really dark, it does exactly what it promises.
The Goods
- Strong dark-carnival atmosphere
- Hellion is very memorable
- The chemistry is intense
- Fully commits to the horror-romance tone
- Fast, addictive pacing
The Bads
- Extremely graphic
- The relationship is intentionally toxic
- Some scenes push shock value hard
- The plot can get messy
- Definitely not for sensitive readers
My Recommendation
This is really for readers who already know they like pitch-black romance, horror erotica, BDSM, and characters who are completely unhinged. The carnival setting gives the story a creepy edge, and I liked that it didn’t pretend Hellion or the relationship was remotely healthy. If you enjoy dark romance that goes way past morally grey and into full-on disturbing territory, Hollow Hellion is the kind of book that’s hard to forget.
