Earth Unknown

Book 1 of Forgotten Earth

Science Fiction, Post-Apocalyptic

Book Score8out of 10
Plot & Storyline 8.5/10
Characters 8/10
Dialogue / Writing Style 8/10

Earth Unknown continues the Forgotten Earth series with Sheriff Duke trying to survive in a world that keeps getting more dangerous the farther he travels. The ruined landscape, hostile creatures, and scattered survivors all make the journey difficult, but the bigger mystery is still what happened to Earth and why so much of the truth has been hidden.

This book pushes more of the larger science-fiction story into the open while still keeping the wasteland survival side front and centre. Duke is forced to deal with new threats, new alliances, and more evidence that the world he thought he understood is much stranger than it first appeared.

The Goods

  • Good mix of survival and sci-fi
  • The mystery around Earth keeps expanding
  • Duke remains easy to follow
  • Strong wasteland atmosphere
  • Moves the larger story forward

The Bads

  • Some action feels familiar
  • A few side characters need more depth
  • The pacing can be relentless
  • Certain reveals happen quickly
  • Works best if you remember the first book

My Recommendation

This is a good continuation for readers who like the Forgotten Earth series and want more of the mystery behind the ruined world. Earth Unknown keeps the survival pressure high while revealing more about the larger science-fiction side of the story, so it feels like the series is starting to open up beyond just the wasteland. If you enjoy post-apocalyptic fiction with military elements, strange creatures, hidden truths, and a larger mystery slowly coming together, this one keeps the momentum going well.
