Control

Book 3 of World of THE FLENSE

Horror, Apocalyptic Fiction, Science Fiction

Book Score8.5out of 10
Plot & Storyline 8.5/10
Characters 8.5/10
Dialogue / Writing Style 8/10

Control continues the Bunker 12 series with Finn trying to rescue his kidnapped twin brother while also dealing with betrayal from someone close to him. The Flense is still a major threat, but this book feels more personal because Finn is no longer just fighting to survive; he is trying to save family while being dragged back into the hands of someone who wants revenge.

At the same time, the other Bunker 8 survivors are still searching for the mysterious twelfth bunker and the possibility of a cure. The story keeps the pressure high by splitting the danger between Finn’s situation and the larger race to find answers, which makes the series feel like it is moving toward something much bigger.

The Goods

  • Stronger personal stakes
  • Good continuation of the Bunker 12 mystery
  • Finn gets more emotional depth
  • The search for Bunker Twelve stays interesting
  • Keeps the tension high

The Bads

  • Depends heavily on the earlier books
  • Some betrayals feel predictable
  • A few characters are underused
  • The story can get very bleak
  • Certain survival elements feel familiar

My Recommendation

This is a strong continuation for readers who are already invested in the Bunker 12 series and want the story to become more personal. Finn’s search for his brother adds a lot more emotional weight, while the race to find Bunker Twelve keeps the larger mystery moving in the background. If you enjoy post-apocalyptic fiction with infected creatures, hidden bunkers, betrayal, and a constant search for a cure, Control keeps the series moving in a good direction.
