Consume
Consume pushes the Bunker 12 story deeper into the collapse, with the survivors facing even more pressure from the Flense and from the people who are willing to do anything to stay in control. By this point, survival is not just about avoiding infection; it is also about figuring out who can actually be trusted and how much anyone is willing to sacrifice for a chance at a future.
The book keeps the same tense post-apocalyptic feel as the earlier entries, but the stakes feel bigger and more desperate. The mystery around the bunkers, the cure, and the people behind everything continues to drive the story forward, while the characters are forced into harder choices as their options keep shrinking.
The Goods
- Strong sense of desperation
- Good continuation of the larger mystery
- The stakes keep getting bigger
- Plenty of survival tension
- Keeps the series moving forward
The Bads
- Depends heavily on the earlier books
- Some situations feel familiar
- The story can get very bleak
- A few characters get limited development
- The mystery still takes time to fully open up
My Recommendation
This is a good fit for readers who are already deep into the Bunker 12 series and want the story to keep expanding beyond simple outbreak survival. Consume feels more desperate, more dangerous, and more focused on the bigger mystery behind the Flense and the bunkers themselves. If you enjoy post-apocalyptic fiction with infected threats, hidden agendas, and characters constantly being pushed into worse situations, this is a solid continuation of the series.
