Book review by Corey
24690
24690 drops Everleigh into a hidden underground world where people are treated as property and violence is simply part of the system. After the death of her owner, she is returned to Whitlock and stripped of what little security she had, leaving her trapped between dangerous Masters, brutal rules, and a constant fight to stay alive.
The book is extremely dark and does not soften what happens to its characters. A lot of the tension comes from never knowing who Everleigh can trust or what will happen next. It is disturbing, unpredictable, and sometimes difficult to read, but that is also what gives the story its intensity.
The Goods
- Very dark atmosphere
- Constant sense of danger
- Unpredictable story
- Strong survival element
- Interesting underground world
The Bads
- Some scenes are extremely graphic
- Definitely not for sensitive readers
- Certain characters could use more depth
- The cruelty can become exhausting
- Some situations feel deliberately shocking
My Recommendation
Read 24690 if you like extremely dark horror, psychological thrillers, captivity stories, and books that are willing to go much further than normal dark fiction. This is not a light dark-romance story and it absolutely needs content warnings, but if you enjoy disturbing books with an unpredictable story and a brutal survival theme, there is a lot here to keep you reading.
