Light
Light is the sixth book in the Gone series and the conclusion to the original FAYZ storyline. Sam, Caine, Astrid, Diana, and the rest of the survivors are dealing with the barrier changing, the Darkness becoming more dangerous, and the very real possibility that not everyone is going to make it out.
I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to these characters, especially after watching them change so much across the first six books. The story moves fast and there’s a lot happening, but the emotional moments are what worked best for me. I didn’t realize how much I cared about some of these characters until things started going wrong for the last time.
The Goods
- Strong ending to the original FAYZ arc
- Good emotional payoff
- The stakes feel genuinely huge
- Several character arcs come together well
- The final conflict feels earned
The Bads
- A lot happens very quickly
- Some characters get less closure than others
- The action can feel chaotic
- A few moments are pretty brutal
- Works best if the first five books are still fresh
My Recommendation
This is a satisfying finish if you’ve followed the original six-book FAYZ storyline from the beginning and want to see the major conflicts finally come together. The ending wasn’t necessarily what I expected, but it felt right for the story, and the emotional payoff works because you’ve spent so much time with these characters. If you like YA dystopian fiction with powers, survival, moral choices, and a finale that actually feels like a real ending, Light wraps up the original arc really well.
