LEXA LUTHOR
Apart from some uneasiness, the novel Dancing in the Darkness, was a wonderful book to read and would definitely recommend. Starting with the first part of the book, having the relationship develop between Charlie and Kal was believable and their chemistry throughout was heightened. I loved the real-time, heightened tension throughout the book and the danger and risk from the outside world. I loved how Charlie was a strong female lead. The relationship was definitely my favorite part of the story. The addition of a dominant male paired with a strong female added extra layers to the story. Overall, this was an exciting read with well developed characters and solid world building and I am glad I read this book and will read the next book in the series.
The Goods
– The story keeps your attention and has a steady sense of danger and tension.
– Charlie is a strong main character who feels believable and easy to follow.
– The world and setting feel interesting and serious, not shallow or confusing.
– The relationship with Kal is intense and well written, and the Alpha aspect is handled really well.
– The sexual scenes are detailed and fit the story.
The Bads
– It has very explicit adult content, so it’s not for everyone.
– The power dynamic is a big part of the relationship, which some readers might not like.
– It ends in a way that clearly sets up the next book, so it can feel like you need to continue to get the full payoff.
I’d suggest Dancing in the Darkness as it is an intriguing sci fi romance with a good plot and well developed characters. I appreciated the world-building and the additional details about the character relationships. There is danger and a strong female protagonist. The story also has a good relationship which adds to the intensity of the story. If a reader enjoys romance with some danger and doesn’t mind explicit content, this book is a good choice. The Alpha elements are new and different.
Every book hits differently for every reader.
Thanks for reading my review.
