JEREMY ROBERT JOHNSON
The Loop is a very intense horror book about a small town where strange experiments have gone wrong. We follow a small group of teens who start out dealing with normal things like school, bullies, and crushes, but then people in town begin acting violently and losing control. I liked how the story makes you feel trapped with them, cut off from help while things get worse every hour. The main characters feel like real teenagers, scared and confused but still trying to protect each other. The book moves quickly, has a lot of action, and mixes science fiction, infection horror, and small town drama in a way that is exciting and very hard to stop reading.
Goods:
- Very fast, tense story that is easy to fly through once it starts
- Teen characters who feel real and are easy to care about
- Strong feeling of being trapped in a town where something terrible is spreading
Bads:
- The violence and gore are very graphic and will be too much for some readers
- Parts of the story can feel over the top or chaotic, especially near the end
- Not a good fit if you prefer slow, quiet, or subtle horror
Why I would recommend this book:
I’d would recommend The Loop if you want a wild, high energy horror story with teens at the center, lots of action, and a mix of science experiment gone wrong and infection style chaos. It is a good pick when you are in the mood for something dark, bloody, and gripping that keeps you turning pages to see how anyone could possibly make it out.
Every book hits differently for every reader.
Thanks for reading my review.
