Huntress

Fantasy

Book Score8.5out of 10
Plot & Storyline 8.5/10
Characters 8.5/10
Dialogue / Writing Style 8.5/10

Huntress is set in the same world as Ash and follows Kaede and Taisin, two young women chosen to travel on a dangerous journey to the city of the Fairy Queen. The natural world is starting to fail, the seasons are changing in strange ways, and their mission may be the only chance to understand what is happening before things get worse.

The story mixes fantasy, adventure, and lesbian romance in a way that feels very natural. Kaede and Taisin are very different from each other, which gives their relationship a nice slow build, and the journey itself gives the book more action and danger than Ash while still keeping the emotional side important.

The Goods

  • Strong lesbian romance
  • Good fantasy adventure
  • Kaede and Taisin have believable chemistry
  • Interesting fairy-world setting
  • More action than Ash

The Bads

  • The pacing can be slow
  • Some world-building feels vague
  • A few side characters are underdeveloped
  • The romance takes time to build
  • The ending may feel bittersweet

My Recommendation

This is a strong choice for readers who like lesbian fantasy, slow-burn romance, and adventure stories with a fairy-tale feel. Kaede and Taisin’s relationship is the emotional centre, but the journey, the strange changes in the natural world, and the connection to the Fairy Queen give the book plenty going on beyond the romance. If you enjoyed Ash but wanted something with a little more action and a broader fantasy world, Huntress is a very good follow-up.
