From the Ashes
From the Ashes is the third book in the Nuclear Dawn series and continues Dakota and Logan’s fight to survive after the nuclear attacks. Miami is still a radioactive disaster zone, the country is struggling to respond, and both of them are dealing with the fact that radiation exposure is already starting to catch up with them.
The story stays focused on survival, but the threat starts to feel much bigger than just escaping the fallout. Dakota and Logan are trying to reach medical help while other dangers close in around them, and there is a growing sense that the attacks may only be part of something larger. It keeps the series moving quickly while making the stakes feel even more serious.
The Goods
- Strong post-nuclear atmosphere
- Good sense of urgency
- Dakota and Logan remain easy to follow
- The larger threat starts opening up
- Keeps the series moving quickly
The Bads
- Works best if you know the first two books
- Some survival details feel familiar
- A few characters could use more depth
- The pacing can feel relentless
- Certain dangers stack up very quickly
My Recommendation
This is a strong third book for readers already invested in the Nuclear Dawn series and wanting the story to expand beyond the immediate aftermath of the attacks. From the Ashes keeps the radiation, ruined cities, and survival pressure front and centre, but the growing sense of a larger threat gives the series more momentum. If you enjoy post-apocalyptic thrillers with family stakes, medical danger, and characters trying to survive while the wider situation keeps getting worse, this is a solid continuation.
