A Touch of Ruin
A Touch of Ruin continues Persephone and Hades’ relationship, but this time the story puts much more pressure on them. Persephone is dealing with grief, trust issues, and the consequences of making choices that affect both the mortal and divine worlds, while Hades remains protective in ways that sometimes create even more tension between them.
This book is more emotional than the first one and spends a lot of time on Persephone’s personal struggles. There is still plenty of romance and mythology, but the relationship drama is much heavier here, which makes the story feel more intense but also a little more repetitive in places.
The Goods
- More emotional depth
- Persephone feels more vulnerable and human
- Strong chemistry between the leads
- Good use of mythology
- Higher emotional stakes
The Bads
- Relationship drama gets repetitive
- Persephone can be frustrating
- Some conflicts could be resolved faster
- The plot slows down in places
- Less balanced than the first book
My Recommendation
This one will probably work best if you already like Hades and Persephone as a couple and want a more emotional, relationship-heavy follow-up. There is still enough mythology and conflict to keep things moving, but the focus is much more on grief, trust, and the problems between them. It is not quite as smooth as the first book, but it does add more depth to both Persephone and the overall series.
