GLENDY VANDERAH
Most readers will agree that Glendy Vanderah’s novel, Where the Forest Meets the Stars, is a very emotional page turner that masterfully blends heart with a touch of mystery. Jo, a woman already juggling a lot, stumbles upon a girl in the woods who claims she is on a special mission. Even if that sound highly unlikely, Jo can’t just disregard the girl. Jo begins a quest to solve the girl’s mystery, and the story evolves to discuss the more expansive themes of trust and healing. It explores how people often become family when they show up for each other. The characters are very realistic, making readers care deeply about the story, and the relational dynamics that develops as the plot thickens.
The Goods
– The characters feel real and easy to get invested in.
– The mystery keeps you curious without taking over the whole story.
– It’s emotional in a way that feels honest, not dramatic for no reason.
– The found-family vibe is strong and really comforting.
The Bads
– It can get heavy at times, so it’s not a light, breezy read.
– The pace is more focused on characters and feelings than action.
– You have to accept the unusual premise early on and go with it.
I’d recommend this book because it’s the kind of story that sticks with you after you’re done. It has a mystery that makes you want answers, but it’s also about people learning how to trust again and letting others in when life has knocked them down. If someone likes books that are meaningful, emotional, and still keep you curious about what’s really going on, this one is a great pick.
Every book hits differently for every reader.
Thanks for reading my review.
